My car has developed a werid fault, when i am going along under power the engine phsyically cuts out for a split seccond, jolting the whole car and then cut back in again, its probably only lasts less than a 1/3rd of a seccond.
I am wondering if its an electrical fault or someone said somthing about the EGR valve?
Anyone have any ideas what the hell is causing this?

I had similar symptoms when I had a faulty crank sensor and suspect this may be your fault, HOWEVER before you start swapping parts get it plugged into an OBDII fault code reader and it should tell you exactly what is wrong.
If it is the crank sensor they must be a common fault as the motor factors had one in stock when mine went, not a massive cost either. Top Tip, you need to remove the crank pulley to swap the sensor.
As you say the engine stops dead for a micro second and I don't think that it will do the timing belt any good when this happens, I wouldn't put the job off too long.

The crank sensor does sound like a likely culprit, its literally cuts out for a nano second then back in again but it does jolt the whole engine doing this! Also I have noticed the jolt is sticking my car some times into some kind of limp mode and the car seems to limit the revs and you can only drive very slowly, sub 30mph.
Does this sound like the sensor, it does some times throw the engine management light on too, but not always.
Off to the garage I go again!!

What speed are you going and at what rpm when the engine cuts out?

It doesn't matter what speed or engine rpm you do, it intermittently does it through all of it be it at idle or driving.
