1.6hdi or 2.0hdi? I want a new Berlingo, replacing my 1.9D
#1
Hi chaps.
I've had a mk2 with a 1.9D engine for a few years now.
We love the car, it's super practical.
However, there are some minor electrical issues, she's super high mileage (180,000) the controls are heavy, especially the clutch and the engine is of course super SLOW.

We're thinking of either getting the 2.0hdi or the 1.6hdi.
I've read that the 1.6hdi is actually a bit better in terms of performance and economy. It's also a cheaper road tax bracket.

For some reason though I have it in the back of my mind, or a gut feeling to avoid the 1.6hdi and go for the 2.0hdi.
Is the 2.0 a better engine? More reliable? Not worked as hard as it's smaller 1.6 brother?

What do you think?

If you can find a good 2.0 HDi,go for it. I've had a 1.6 for nearly 7 years & am very pleased with it but I've had it from new & changed the oil every 6,000m.2nd hand 1.6's are a different kettle of fish.It needs to have a genuine service history from a dealer or specialist to ensure the correct oil has been used.Hope this helps.:thumbsup:Confusedalut:
