Well numbers don't lie! 440 miles to this tank. Drives so much better with all the emissions crap ripped out too

i was starting to think my engine was a bit of a dud before i read this. 440 miles to a tank (41-42mpg). developed a bit of a cough a couple of weeks ago so changed the fuel filter today.

will probably clean out the egr and manifold then stick some rhino in the tank to further clean things out. hope it helps but sounds like im getting through about the right amount of fuel for this engine.

Do you carry stuff? Mine is always crammed full of tools and cable. I'd expect about 460 if running empty.

You have read the part where I was getting <400 to a tank before I ripped the EGR system out, right? Wink

I just filled up today funnily enough, 440 miles again with a mix of town and slip-streaming lorries at 55 - 60...I don't rush unless I have to these days...fuel ain't free.

Unless I'm on the motorbike then all bets are off Big Grin

im a joiner, so a few power tools. they might add up to about 100-120kgs but im not sure.

most of my miles are spent sitting at 60, but i have to keep the foot down to get there, changing gear at 3000rpm.

i've read a few things on the egr removal, a lot of conflicting arguments but i do plan on fitting a blanking plate, got it sitting here next to me actually.

recently developed a cough (van, not me). changed fuel filter and it seemed to help the acceleration a little but the cough isnt gone so i think the fuel pump is on its way out. it hasnt done much harm to the mpg though.

im told its normal for the berlingo but the coolant temp sits at about 81 degrees, im used to seeing 90 degrees on all the other cars and vans ive driven though (altho the guages are never accurate) just feels too cold to me.

ive got a supercharged 2.3 litre V5 golf for weekends, couldnt care less about the mpg in that but when you factor in the difference in the cost of petrol and diesel, im just as cheap taking the golf.
