So I ordered a blank and set about fitting it. That's where my day started and ended!
How on earth can anyone get their hands there let alone do any work back there!

I can just about get to the nut on the left hand side (as you look at the engine) but can't get anything on the other nut!
What did you use? And is there a gasket in situ, if so did you place the blank on top or below it?
Thanks coco.

5 things to undo in total.
2 at the inlet manifold
1 halfway along the pipe, in line with the rocker cover
2 on the exhaust manifold end.
Inlet end and the single one you can get a socket on. At the exhaust manifold end I used a spanner (sorry can't remember the size) and it was a slow job not even a quarter turn at a time. Get some penetrating oil on it if you can to help. I did not use the gaskets already there, put put some instant gasket on the blanks. That works fine as there is very little pressure there.
Take your time and you'll get there.

Oh so you removed more than just the 2 bolts on the actual EGR?
I'll have another stab tonight. My blanking plate is slotted so in theory it's just a case of slackening the two aforementioned bolts/nuts.
I'll see if I can get some pictures and do a little tutorial if possible.

The blank I got was made to fit on the inlet manifold end rather than the exhaust manifold end, so was very easy to fit.
On mine it has the coolant running through the pipe shown above so is a little big more involved to remove.
