2008 1.6hdi vtr buying advice
#1
Hi,

New to this site and so glad to have found it!

Im thinking of buying a 2008 1.6hdi vtr and will be having a look at it this weekend but I was hoping for a little advice on what to look for when viewing and test driving it.

Its done 60,000 miles, and im told its an ex motability car. No log book but the dealer can get a print out of the service history for me (does that sound dodgy?)

From my research the service interval is 12,500 miles, and I would have thought the timing belt would have needed to be replaced or checked around 50,000 miles? Does anyone know what the timing belt interval actually is?

thanks
bloo

sorry wrong forum!

Hi,just brought a 1.6 HDi and the book says change timing belt (Petrol) 90,000 miles or 10 years, and diesel 137,000 miles or 10 years - miraculous stuff, still cannot work out how oil can last 12,500 miles!

go for test drive over rough roads and see if any knocking from front suspension, check if any suspension work done.
