#1
Hi guys. Both airbag lights came on yesterday ( Mot booked in for today )
Failed MOT.

The diag says:

Description: FAULT: ECU internal (VAN interface Not defined )
State: Permanent fault.

Description: Passengers airbag deactivation Not defined
State: Permanent fault.

Its a siemens ECU and the garage said the fault was with the ECU.

Diagnosis program version number : V40.60

Please please please help. Mot ran out yesterday and i need my van
Its a berlingo multispace 2.0hdi 54 plate.

Cheers Chris.
Anyone got an idea's how to fix this or how much roughly for an auto elec to fix this if its too difficult.

Checked the connectors under the seats first before i took it for Mot. :-(

Thanks again, Chris.

How to fix it and how much is defined by many things. It could be a simple fix or a wiring fault that could take time to find. It ideally needs to go on a lexia diagnostics. This is the reason why I take my vehicle in for it's mot as early as possible.

This sounds like a Comms fault.
There have been a few posts with this fault which has ended up being a break in the twisted pair of red and white wires going from the Bsi (fuse box of tricks under steering wheel) to the Psf (engine fuse box). I would start by checking this line for continuity etc.
Also check for signs of water stains or ingress to the Bsi.

Thanks mate.
Any idea which connectors and pins are linked between the Bsi and Psf? Is it obvious as they are white and red twisted pairs?

Also you mentioned water staines or ingress in the Bsi? How does water get into the Bsi? I could imagine water being able to get into the Psf as its in the engine bay.

Thanks again for your help. Chris.

Thanks for all your help guys, really appreciated. The guys on this forum are just brilliant.
The lights are out!!!!!!!!!!!!! and booked in tomorrow for its mot retest.
A huge thankyou to Rustscrat, U was correct I your diagnosis. The red wire of the twisted pair was open circuit. Sounds easy to find but took me hrs, had the bsi and psf apart to find it. the break was under the drivers windscreen wiper shaft ( just before going through the rubber grommet in the bulkhead.)

Rustscrat: Send me either your paypal address or house address cos I would like to send u a tenner for a beer.

Cheers Chris.
