Thanks for that Rustscrat. I will be buying a Lexia tool of FleaBay. Is there anything I should be looking for? I will be buying UK supplier, simply because I needed soonest, and they have to comply with distance selling rules.

Getting more concerned about the indicators. I mentioned before that even though the dashboard signals are flashing, the indicator sound, which I think comes from the Comm 2000, goes silent sometimes, and I'm not sure the actual lights are flashing!

I believe the indicator sound can be interrupted when a fault condition, like the airbag system occurs. Is this somehow related to the speedo fault and airbag fault ?????

Could be as the air bag + Com2000 are on the same comms line. The comms still work as there are two lines carrying the same info. If one line is down it throws an air bag fault up.
Got my reader from ebay seller "easy diagnostics". not the cheapest but %100 pos.feedback and very helpful if you are having trouble setting it up. :thumbsup:

Err may take a bit longer. Have purchased lexia from Fleabay, but now 2 days post deivery date (yes I know it snowed today). have contacted seller, must be Chinese as has message on site saying seller is away and not able to respond till 16th Jan. Well that was the delivery date! Looks like he/she has b*ggered of back to China and not despatched my Lexia before they went. Anyway have tried to contact via FBay, no response yet. Have asked for refund. Unfortunately FBay won't get involved until after my MOT! Seller is getting max neg feedback unless something happens soon!

seller says family bereavement has delayed delivery. So will not have lexia till next weekend at earliest! Don't you just love buying online!

Right, so latest is took longer than expected/wanted to receive Lexia. Finally got it and spent better part of a day trying to install software. Managed to install and activate software on my desktop PC (yes lugged it out to Bingo and powered via extension lead!). Connected Lexia to PC, installed drivers. But when connected Lexia to Bingo, no joy. Then realised PC is Vista not XP. Seller says software works on XP, Win2k, but not Vista, Win7.

So dug out another old PC, this time with XP. However would not load software correctly. Got as far as trying to activate then bombs out. (De)Instructions say you have to load from DVD and you have to be on-line. Being online worries me. Partly because you also have to turn off your firewall and antivirus, and partly because why does it need to go online? If the website it does need to go to is shutdown sometime, I will not be able to install in the future on another PC say. Has anyone else had experience of these problems. Also having problems running DVD reader on this low power PC!!!!

So currently still no info on where airbag fault lies. So as time is running out (MOT booked for monday). Can I have suggestions where to look first please?. Will probably try to replace com2000. Then look at earths around airbag control unit. Looked for wiring loom fault between BSI and engine fuse box that I read before but can no longer find! Anyway no obvious loom problems.

First up is my observation that airbags are bloody hard to set off. A mate once was tasked with "accidentally" deploying some on a stationary vehicle in order for it to be assessed as a total loss. It took a lot of mucking around. Even so, I work with my head out of the "firing line".

The one possibility I would raise is, has the airbag module ever been deployed, even only pretensioner stage? Fairly sure they are plug and play (uncoded) so you could swap in a known good unit to see.

I'd start by unplugging and replugging the orange airbag module plug a couple of times. And - I would be highly unlikely to bother with a battery off/power down routine beforehand. While the connector's off, I'd check for continuity of the power feed to the module connector, and check resistances to earth. Then I'd meter out each pyrotechnic (all six of them); this is probably safer with a decent quality electronic multimeter than an older analogue unit. With the steering wheel ribbon, check the resistance to the centre bag remains constant while turning the wheel back and forth slightly.

Not sure how well known it is, but there is a way to determine the centring of the clockspring ("ribbon" connector) and it is not uncommon for dummies to fit them a whole turn out. Look at the match marks; they should be perfectly square to each other - not angled on the inner part.

That's about far as you can go with the mechanical/electrical basics and no Lexia.

Speaking of which, see how you go activating without turning off firewalls - most will advise if there's a problem or if they're blocking something. Generally, if you allow the version to go online and search for updates it will out itself to the PSA servers as a clone and be internally locked up - meaning you need to reinstall.

From memory once I'd entered the illustrated login details and pasted over the keygen code, it was all good - I just manually disallow it to search for updates every time I power on. Also I waited until the version install was completed before plugging in the dongle and then assisting the laptop to find the driver software from the DVD.

Thanks for that Addo. I have asked to borrow an old Win2000 laptop from a mate. He keeps it for his VW diag tool. Hopefully the Lexia won't screw up his install.

Instructions on DVD say in capitals, you must be connected to the internet. But when I installed on my Vista PC, it wasn't connected. Did have to bypass the antivirus SW for a while though. As I say that install (eventually) went through. Got activated and seemed to talk to Lexia box. But no comms with car when plugged into OBD socket. Might still be a fault with the car on the socket or BSI I guess. Only know by using known good diag tool. Guess I could try my Lexia on another Citroen/Peugeot?

The under seat connectors have all been replaced. Could be a duff pretensioner as you say. I have read you can simulate airbag/pretensioner to airbag controller by using 3 ohm resistor in its place.

I have this old Comm2000 switch assembly, which had faulty indicator stalk. Think it was OK otherwise. If I don't get anyware with Lexia, I will try swopping this over.
