Mk3 beam Deflectors /Headlamp protectors
#1
eHDi XTR 2013

Do Citroen actually sell (or are after market available)? I have spent significant time on EBay with no luck.

Does anybody have the manufacturer specific positioning and shape specn?

Whilst historically I always 'Black tape' and line up against a vertical wall ! am somewhat nervous about long term degradation of the polycarbonate headlamp covers.

I use the car regularly abroad so leave the patches on permanently.

It is NOT good enough to just wind down the headlamps - significantly reduced illuminated area. The kickup to the left is also very pronounced.

There's a letter from citroen on post #11 which says they're not needed on this model of headlight. I didn't bother using deflectors on my recent visist to France and had no problems (I was actually randomly stopped by the police and they didn't have an issue with lack of deflectors). I did take a copy of the letter but didn't need to show it.

As far as I was aware they are not required.

On my Octavia there is a lever in the h/light that can be moved to produce a flat beam with no kickup. I wonder if the berlingos have the same?

Thankyou for that link - and the copy of the Citroen letter. I still think that the pronounced kickup to the left causes potential problems for oncoming drivers. Particularly on minor (narrow) roads. I think that Citroen are actually wrong! Surprised?

Since I am in France I will try to park alongside a French Berlingo and see if the reflectors are handed? There is a pronounced 'twist' from vertical on the bulb in the reflector that must produce the handed kickup - although there are multiple 'discontinuties' in the reflector itself.

The lights on UK Berlingos are definately 'rhd' as signified by the arrows on labels. There are small points of light that go to left but I assume these must be at ground level as they never bother oncoming drivers on unlit French N rds. At pointed out, I emailed Citroen for the definitive answer & was told benders are not required & as pointed out they do create hotspots on lights which can't be good. I have never heard of any UK driver being nicked in France for having not stickers on their headlights.

The replies above are all in good faith but the fact remains, on my 2009 XTR when I checked my beams against a white garage door, there was a big kick up on the left hand side. No way is mine a flat beam, therefore I used beam deflectors when I took my car to France.

Try yours and see, yours might be ok. Or not!

Exactly my observation and sentiments! That is why I want protectors!

I spoke to my local Citroen Dealer who I know quite well and he says that the lights do kick up to the left when on dipped (and he showed me against a brick wall and so something needs to be done (otherwise it is just an excuse for you to get stopped) but Citroen don't do them.

I found some here Headlamp protectorsbut I haven't sent for them yet.

Ok now we have established that they may exist all we have to do is find them at a reasonable price! But they do not appear in the Application List from that supplier under Cit or Pug! (Have you spoken with them to see if they do actually supply them?)
