Aux Belt tensioner changing
#1
Anyone got advise on how to easily remove the top automatic tensioner for the Auxiliary/Fan belt on a DW8 Berlingo with A/C
I have whining grinding noise which I think is the manual (lower) tensioner so I have ordered replacement of both tensioners.
It looks to me if the garage fitted the belt slightly on the skew one rib line out on alternator and power steering spindles. I notice the top tensioner is pass the worn belt marking ...Suspicion the garage did a pig ear of this when they fitted new belt at same time of cam belt replacement, what do you think? belt worn out 5.000 mile after replacement? or has belt skew loaded the bearings more?? hi, A simillar thing happened to my old xsara, sounds like the same noise and effect on the belt. Might not be of course but.....Apparently the tensioner bearing gets worn and runs slightly off true and the belt slides off the pulley a bit when all the pulley surfaces are not parrallel. The more the bearing gets worn the more it slides off the pulley. Mine failed as I was about to go over Tower Bridge, not a good place! Well better than on Tower Bridge. The belt broke and set in train a nightmare repair situation. Turned out the bits of belt wrapped around the timing belt top pulley and wrecked that too! :brickwall: The garage I limped to did the work so I got no advice about how to but fix it quick if it is that!

Need to know if or how I might lift the body up to gain better access or can I remove the tensioner without lifting
I forgot to post the diagram as this is different to some DW8 according to Haynes
Exploded diagram attached
The Tensioner is the upper auto tensioner part no 8
Thanks
