I think you will find the Skoda Yeti has this feature as standard.

I still cannot see what the benefit of this feature is, I find it rather annoying and distracting when a car is approaching and the fog light starts flashing.

Idiots who drive with fogs on all the time, idiots who cant differentiate between light and dark so use no lights or just sidelights. Then theres the drl's that are blinding, the permanently stuck on brake lights or the motors that have lamps out all over the place. I'm sure there are very few people that actually check their lights and even less that actually have a spare lamp or the ability to change it.
I have been in the habit for many years(well,I am a Berlingo owner) of checking my lights monthly & on the move,ie reflections in windowsetc.
I got fed up constantly trimming the wicks & love these new fangled acetylene things, you can top them up with pee!!

Has anybody noticed the latest flashing brake lights?
Seen couple of new cars with them on the motorway in the last few weeks.
Can't remember what car they were on? Mondeo, perhaps...
Trying to work out whether they are annoying, or a good safety feature?
Certainly grabs your attention, so perhaps a good thing? anta:

Seen them on the cars painted mostly white with reflective yellow panels, also got blue flashing lights on the roof, says ECILOP in the rear view mirror if one is following you....:whistle::whistle:

A 'marked' Police car on the motorway?
That is a rare sight. Today they are of the unmarked stealth variety.
And unfortunately the Police are not brand loyal.
As well as the WRX and Evo's you see on 'Ultimate Police, Camera, Stop, Action Interceptors' they tend to favour the Golf, Octavia and Audi.
At least they do around the middle of our country.

According to the handbook for my Mk3,the hazard lights will start flashing when you brake hard, obviously it'll have to be very hard, probably just before you hit the car in front at 70mph!
It became law recently in Denmark for people to activate their hazard lights when braking hard on motorways to alert following driver's.
I think flashing brake lights, particularly high-level brake lights are a good idea.
Sometimes it's difficult to see brake lights when people are using rear fog lights.

We have Jag XF, BMW and Mercs on our motorways.

Done some further 'research' into flashing brake lights and it appears they are more common than I thought.
BMW, Mercedes, Toyota and Volvo all have them fitted on their recent models.
They operate in a similar way, under heavy braking, as VW, Audi, Skoda and Vauxhall do with their hazard warning lights.
Some only operate when the ABS is activated.
It is a fairly rare sight as you have to be decelerating at more than 6m/s and you would only probably notice just before you hit the car in front....
