Battery re-fit immobiliser problem
#1
Hi all,

My battery died on my 2004 1.9d berlingo so I removed the battery completely to charge it.

Today I refitted it to the van and went to turn the key and nothing. The red light on the central locking button is flashing.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Cheers,

Bruce

Hi Bruce you could try a BSI reset have read of this http://www.citroenownersclub.co.uk/bsi-reset.html
Make sure all equipment is turned off ie radio, interior, lights, wipers, then follow the instructions.
Its easy to confuse the electrics if you have things switched on as you connect the battery.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Is it turning over and not starting or not even turning over? The reason I ask is because this is exactly what happended to me- it would turn over but not start. Turns out the flat battery had wiped the BSI of its identification, plugged into Lexia and the VIN number was missing (just a sea of 'thorns' charactors) and the settings were all to pot! I re-programmed and all was well- I can let you know the procedure if needs be.

Humm, not sure then. I would suggest checking ALL fuses (both in the BSI and the engine bay) before doing anything else. I know when I has BSI problems, it would still turn over just not start.

You say the battery died so have you replaced it or charged it? Check the battery then check all fuses including the large ones in the engine bay then check earth straps and battery terminals for tightness.
