Belly Pan/Guard

After having just serviced my wifes' Pug 307 (also a 1.6Hdi unit), I decided to have a quick look/comparison with things against my new Berloingo Van.

Good points: There definately seems to be lots more room to change air filter with out having to spend ages removing numerous parts. I recon I could do it in ten minutes. There also seems to be much more room at the front to access the turbo and could do an oil change very easily. That's good as I intend to do oil changes every 6k miles in between the garage services until the warranty ends then I'll do them all.

Belly Pan/Guard - Looking underneath there does not appear to be a belly pan at all. The bottom of the engine is in full view. Obviously that makes it very easy access for but surely there should be a belly pan?? Or not??

Only the XTR is fitted with the steel pan underneath as standard.

Just had another look under mine. It has a plastic belly pan and no part of the engine is visible from the underside.

yeh mine has a plastic one tooooo. when i fitted my bull bars had to drill trough this ti fit.

This does not sound good so far.

I wonder if the van versions do not come with a belly pan - either plastic or metal.

The guy fom this website talks of a sump guard but pretty sure it's not like mine. (I know his is a Partner and looks like an earlier version)

I will try and get a piccie but not tonight and not sure if trying to get one tomorrow would be wise but I'll try.

In the mean time, an y full van owners (mk3) fancy having a peak, I'd appreciate it.

Yes, his is a M59 (Mk 2) Partner is the same as a Berlingo - just "badge engineered".

His "sump guard" is a plastic tray that attaches. It's main purposes are to direct the airflow through for cooling and to stop too much water coating the bottom of the engine and associated electrical components.

I know this isn't necessarily relevant to the Mk3, but hope it helps anyway.

The XTR saloon and XTR van are fitted with a steel sump guard.
The XTR van is also fitted with a limited slip diff too,why couldn't they fit it to the saloon as well?
