In that case ignore all that I said........and check the bottom engine mount bush. It's up behind the sump and locates the engine/gearbox assembly to the body. Check condition of the bush and that the bolts on both ends are secure

My 1.4 petrol started this after replacing the cat with a none oem aftermarket one. Think this could cause some resonance if not totally standard and I'm nearly certain it's the cause of my noise.

Aux belt crankshaft pulley is my bet, IE not consistant sounds expensive/terminal, the rubber damper has/is breaking down causing a very expensive sounding knock rattle at various engine speeds/loads but not every time?
