#1
Hi guys,is it possible to get a BSI that's acting up "reprogrammed" or something or would it have to be replaced

The BSI is usually in two layers, up to about 2008 or so. One layer has all the nitty-gritty details of your car (mileage, immobiliser particularly) while the upper circuit board which is just a push fit, has the heavy artillery - door locking relays, wiper relays, that sort of stuff.

Depends which part is faulty, if either is - the upper board can be swapped like-for-like with no more effort than disconnecting the battery first. By comparison, a complete BSI swap requires a "virginised" unit with the mileage set to zero, and you need to match it with your engine's ECU (one chance only programming).

There is a guy on here that repairs BSI units but for the life of me I cant remember his name. He also sells the repair service on ebay to so try a search on both sites. He has had good reviews on work carried out.
