Can TPMS Sensors be Swapped from Steel to Alloy Wheels?
#1
I've got a 64-reg XTR Auto, which has 15" steel wheels.  I'm pondering about swapping the wheels for alloys.

Does anyone know whether the standard TPMS sensors can be swapped from the steel wheels to the alloys, or would new ones need to be bought?  In which case I won't bother.

If they can be swapped then does anyone know where to get a fitting kit for them?  Presumably they need new seals.

Many thanks.

The newest tpms valves are pull through rubber ones. If you have this type, the rubber parts are quite cheap and I have a box full of them, you can just replace this rubber stem & fasten the electronic part too it.
If your valves are the bolt in threaded type then I. Don't think you can fit these to steels.

They are the rubber ones - they don't look any different to standard valve from the outside. How do they fasten? The ones I've seen have what looks like a terminal block on them - are these the right ones?

I've read in various places that for some makes at least the body of the sensor sits at a different angle relative to the valve, I'm guessing because alloys have thicker walls than steel. I think Honda at least make two different types and they can't be swapped.
