Damp diesel ???
Hey folks. Me again. Just another quick enquiry. 2004 multi 2lt HDI. Its an ok starter for a 90k engine. Starts on second or third crank. About the same on cold frosty mornings. We had rain on the weekend but temp was mild. On the wet mornings it took about 8 to 10 cranks to start. Now my 1980s mini metro (petrol) never starting on wet Sundays I can understand but does anyone have a clue why this diesel engine should be lazy in the wet. Lots of info here on cold start problems but cant see any damp start threads. Still getting to know the car but it always seems to start in the end. Experienced owners what do ya think?
Cheers xt
Glow Plugs i would say
Won't be glow plugs, they only kick in when it gets to zero degrees.

Thats what I figured. That is why I find it strange. Wonder if there might be any other electrics susceptible to damp conditions that may hamper good starting.
check our battery it might be a little low so the heaters wont get to optimum temp
Try a new battery. I changed mine for a higher CCA (780) It now starts on first or second crank
