[Engine] 1.6 HDI Blue Smoke From Engine Bay (Constaantly)
#1
Hey guys,

Just joined after reading this forum for the past few days and couldn't find anything about this anywhere.

Recently brought a 1.6hdi 2007 berlingo van and the very next day noticed a small amount of blue smoke coming from the engine bay. Tried to trace it back to it's source but haven't been able to yet.

Took it to my local garage yesterday to book it in for a full service and see if they could spot the problem and they reckon it is a "valve seal?".

Anyone here experienced this or know what I should be looking for?

Am just going through the manual i found on here to see if i can dismantle any of the other plastics off the engine so i can get a better look and gave the engine a quick clean earlier to remove a lot of the oil that's caked up all over the top of it but can't see anything suspect at the moment.

Thanks in advance
Lewis

Get yourself a new garage!
It sounds like your injectors are leaking, exhaust fumes blowing past the seals and past the injector into the engine bay. This is likely if you have lots of oil around the top of the engine.
If this is the case then it is A BIG PROBLEM if not sorted and leads to the oil becoming contaminated which in turn leads to turbo failure.
New seals cost less than a fiver and should sort your problem.

As above sounds like injector seals.

However if you have heavy caking like it sounds like, then your going to have hell of a job pulling the injectors.

I would also recommend getting this problem sorted before you give it a service.
