I have a 2010 1.6 h2 Van sitting at just over 60k it has light use but thought that i had better check if the timing belt needs done.
Online it says 150k but oin citreon website for a service is says it needs it now.
Any feedback, also if i was to get it done do i go to a main dealer or not, they are charging £295
For 1.6hdi diesel, in my book it says 150k miles or 10yrs. For severe use, whatever that may be, it recommends 100k miles. Personally If I was that worried, about it to change it at 60k miles I'd get it done at Cit garage then I know it has been done right with oe parts.

Thanks that what i will do just to put my mind at rest , booked it for next week.
While they are doing the belt its good practice to replace the water pump at the same time.
Are we there yet????? No we fecking ain`t gggggrrrrrrr
Ex 1.6hdi van now 3 seater 1.4 multispace
Any garage should replace belt as part of a kit which includes water pump. If Citroen kit is not used then good make like Dayco should be used who probably make belts for Cit, anyway.
Never seen a kit that includes the water pump - is this a new thing?

I dont think the kits include the water pump.
It makes sense to change the pump when doing the timing belt as it is already accessible while strpped down to do the belt. This and the fact that a new belt can put more stress on an old pump. For the cost of a pump its well worth doing at the same time

Yes, I assumed the water pump would be changed as a matter of course with the belt, as you say it makes sense. It does prove that when a garage quotes a price one should find out extactly what it does include. It would be a right old cheapskate garage that did not replace water pump.
You have always had to pay extra for the water pump to be replaced but it is worth doing as i have seen quite a few results of water pump failure not long after a cambelt kit has been fitted.
Just had 80k km service and belt due at 150k km.... Water pump at belt time is like main seal when doing a clutch... Cheap insurance... Cause nothing hurts more that doing s**t twice!
