[Engine] Diesel Particulate Filter
#1
Hi, newbie, first post: I have a 2003 2.0 HDI. I am looking for a newer one but am concerned about dpf problems. I am considering a 2007 1.6HDI, which apparently has dpf in the catalytic converter. Is this the type of dpf that might cause me problems with short trips? If it's just a warning light coming on that means ' you need a blast down the bypass for 20 mins.',that's not a problem. Or is it not as simple as that?

Wouldn't worry about it. I've a mk 3 with dpf and drive 80% city. Never a problem. Twice a month 5 minutes at 90-120 kmph and the light has never gone on. There is an additive dispenser that adds something to help keep it clean. The dispenser needs to be refilled as normal maintenance every 80K or 100K km. Forget which. I also use a good diesel (Shell V-Power) and change oil regularly with Total Quartz Ineo ecs 5W-30 as recommended by PSA for motors with dpf.
2010 Berlingo Multispace HDi 110 with FAP.  Persamos green.

Is there an additive dispenser on the M59?
If so, where is it?
