Can anyone tell me if they have had a problem with the engine warning light coming on after aprox 1 mile, just brought a 2004 2.0 HDI had the warning light come on couple of weeks ago and again this week, the first time after turning if would not restart, any idea's.

As Johny555 says above but if i was going to have a random internet guess im going for temperature sender - reason they play up quite a lot on the 2.0hdi's other than that bomb proof.
How many miles you done? When was it last given a full service? Does the light go out then come back on when driving?

See if you can borrow a code reader from someone. This will give you a fault code that you can look up to locate the problem. I found this really helpful when my engine light came on and meant I was able to fix the problem myself. Plus if you post the code on here there a lot of people who will be able to help and give links to How to fix guides
