Hi all,
Some time ago I removed my old bog standard tape player radio from my van and installed a new Alpine CDE-171R
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/store...yId_165474
I did have some issues with the original wiring, when opening the doors with keys removed, radio would turn on. Solved this when I found a guide on here that suggested swapping power wires. I checked these with a multimeter, however I still reckon the radio is loosing memory.
The main issue Im having is, and I hope I can explain this clearly.
When starting the van, say in the morning @ 7am, I can drive to work and still have the clock read 7am. The clock hour / min ( : ) seperator still flashes but doesn't update. I found that i can force the clock to update if i press and hold the left button on the centre console?
Also, this key allows you to change language etc? If i try this, i am kicked out of the menu. So I can't change time for winter hours, nor can i change language. Im guessing the radio is causing some sort of conflict?
Is there anyway these radios can receive commands from the steering wheel controls? Vol up/down etc and send information to the centre display for example, radio station selection?
Thanks
