[Engine] I think it's not well :( intermittent firing
#1
Hi all,
It's not sounding good and at low revs it like miss firing see lovely video attached!
Any idea about what the problem is or how to locate it! I've replaced the oil, but imagine it's more serious...

Thanks mileysmk1, I'm thinking this way as well, seems like the easy next option anyway Wink
Wonder if I can take them out and clean them, or do I need to get a set of new ones?

Anyone know if you can take apart the injectors to clean?

I would like to replace just the faulty injector, seen people and the Haynes suggesting " run the engine on tick-over and slacken each injector pipe in turn." but that seems almost impossible to do with all the air distribution plastic in the way!
Any ideas on how to find which one I need to change?
Seems kind of expensive to change all 4!

Expect one of these pop tester for car injectors could be handy! http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/gene...ester.html

What's wrong with slackening the injector pipes at the pump end?. it will still show which one if any are faulty. If the misfire gets worse then its not that injector, its the one that doesn't make any difference.

I'd rather check/change the fuel filter instead of very expensive items first and that there are no vacuum pipes off/split at the egr and the shut down flap is open when running.

Tnx for the DIY, very nice. On another forum I have picked another way of cleaning. Use big transistor
connect to LPT port on PC and send correct voltage frequency. Injector cleans it self. If you need it I will post
links.

You can clean only one injector but than you have a mismatch with others. It is better to clean all of them.
Then you will have better consistency of diesel spray among cylinders.
You can replace one, and clean the rest.

I am not sure witch engine you have?

Best regards,
brajomobil

Yes that's a great idea, Well today it would not keep running and the was lots of white smoke Sad
I will have a go after I replace the return fuel pipe I broke...

I was hoping it was tuning in to chitty chitty bang bang!

Thanks brajomobi, Yes I think I will try cleaning them, you can get the middle spray bit for about 30€ £25 so might replace those.
Just not been able to get them out yet I have ordered a socket which I am hopping will work, it's got some sort of whole on the side!
Just hope I don't need the extraction kit for 150!!!
How did people get there injectors out?

Hi all, Oh well I replaced the 4 injectors with new DN0SD299 and it's almost exactly the same!
Still sounds like a sad old thing! see video below Sad

So while I go and have a cup of tea, and think about calling it a day!
Any simple things I overlooked?
