That's a good point I did look at the fuse box in engine bay and there is two of those chunky beige/yellow cables there so just assumed it should be fused. I do have a towbar and electrics fitted but could it be they tapped into something else

At this rate I might put scotch locks on every cable and keep testing til it works

Pulling my hair out think I'm just going to have to run wire from existing 12v socket down by gearstick and hide cable all the way back. It's always the "little" jobs that take the most time.
