[Filters & Oil] Oil Change
Looking to do an oil change this week. Having read a lot about turbo failures on the 1.6 HDI do you reckon its worth checking to see if the mesh has been removed from the turbo oil feed pipe ? Howhard is it to get at?
You can if you like but lots of these 1.6hdi's have high milages on them with the filters still fitted. If your turbo had failed then it would be a good idea to remove the strainers (there are more than one to check, modify or remove).

If the turbo is fine just keep changing the oil for the correct spec 5w30 oil at 5k to 9k intervals and all should be okay.

O forgot to mention also check the injectors are tight and not leaking.
Total ineo ecs is Cit recommended oil. There is an oil drain procedure as well, you can find it by googling. From memory you idle until fan comes on, stop engine then undo sump bolt and remove oil filter. Allow to drain for half hr. The purpose is to ensure all oil is drained. What does for turbo is old or wrong oil turning to sludge and blocking oil feed. Provided correct grade oil is used and changed at correct interval turbo should be ok.
