hi guys just done my 6monthly oil change and I had bit of a problem getting the paper oil filter out of the housing,it seams to clip into some lugs what are at the bottom of the filter housing,in the end I used a trick I seen on youtube, a guy used the cardboard tube thingy that is in the centre of a toilet roll, don't laugh ha ha, it really works, but has anyone made somethink more substantial maybe out of tin or plastic, would like to know, or would it do any harm to cut the lugs of in the housing so the filter just pulls out dead easy ?

It's designed that way so that as you unscrew it, it lifts the plug out of the drain hole so there is only minimum oil left in the housing, I'm not saying it is a brilliant design, but once you understand it it works fine.
As to removing the filter from the housing, a good pull with hands wearing disposible plastic gloves works ok. There are other threads explaining how to, and how not to, fit the new filter.
