Fuel Filler Flap Puzzle
#1
Hi

I am thinking about buying a used MK3 Berlingo. I was looking at one today and happened to pull open the fuel filler flap. When I pushed it to close, it was blocked by a little black rubber toggle to the left of the fuel cap. Eventually I figured out that if I press the toggle down, the flap could close.

I'm guessing that this is something to do with the system which prevents the door from opening when the fuel flap is open.

So is this broken, or do you normally have to push this toggle down when you close the flap ?

I've got a 2010 diesel and there is nothing to push to close the flap.

There is a built in mechanism that stops the sliding door from being opened if the filler flap is open. It is for safety, but it is automatic and has been on all multispaces from day one of the 5 door.

Is there a lever inside that you should have used which resets the toggle when the flap is opened properly ?
So where does this bit go then ?

Does anyone know if there is a fuel flap release lever inside the car ?

There has not been one in either my M2 or Mk3, least not that I have found.
