Don't overtighten the gearbox drain or filler plugs as they are threaded into aluminium alloy. I use a torque wrench set to 25 Nm, which is a very light pressure. I've never had a plug leak yet despite this.

I know there is a soft aluminium washer on the filler/level plug which gets distorted over time, and has to be renewed every so often. You can get them at Motorsave or similar motor shops. I think there is a similar one on the drain plug, but I can't remember... getting old you know.

Jim there should be a copper or aluminium washer on the drain plug usually just reuse it without worries - call me your extended memory lol ^^
On the subject of oil, what's the recommended engine oil grade for our vans.
