Glow plug dash light
#1
When the turbo was replaced last month they also replaced the glow plugs. Since I've had the car back the glow plug dash light never comes on at all. Today going out to work it was 2deg C and it still never came on. I'm 99% certain it used to come on for a few seconds at every cold start before. It also seems to take a few spins to fire up.

I'm just wondering if they forgot to connect the heater relay or something. Highly unlikely I know for a main dealer! Confusedcratch::brickwall:

Could a few diesel owners please let me know if their's light up?

Thanks.
Dave.

I have never seen a glow plug light on my Berli - even when parked outside at -18C. I thought they had done away with them. When I turn the key to the first stop prior to starting and all of the lights come on briefly there is no glow plug symbol visible. Even at minus temperatures the engine fires off immediately.

Mine lights up regularly, the outside temperature was being reported as 6c this morning and the preheat lit as normal. I think it comes on under 10c.

Saw mine for first time this morning at -2. Only for a split second tho

I put it down to just being new but looks like they don't really require a preheat from what iif seen here

I know there's one there, I can see the outline of the icon. It was -3 here at 5.40am today but no hint of the light. I'll give them a ring and see what they say.

Mine came on very briefly on Saturday morning at -3 , otherwise never shows.

These new fangled diesels work on very high pressure on the fuel injection system compared to the older types of engine.

I understand the glow plugs only come on in extreme weather , I have just come from an Mitsibishi L200 where you had to wait for the glow plugs to go out , whereas now you just turn the key and go !

Things to check would be the :

glow plug relay connections.

glow plug buzz bar (are the nuts holding the bar to the glow plugs tight and clean )

Voltage at glow plugs ( two person job really)
