Greetings from a newbie
#1
Hiya,

I'm Phil, 31 and a Pool maintenance man from North Wales. Currently, I'm running about in a 2001 Berlingo 800 Mk1 DW8. It's an ex gasboard van and whilst it's not the fastest thing on the road, I think it's an excellent van that is emminently useable.

I guess that I don't really need to sell it to you guys here, though...

In line with it being ex gas board, I did have the typical faded in sign writing, but happily, a few hours with some compound and a coat of wax saw that consigned to my memory Smile

Here's a picture of "Norman" (don't ask - I'm in the habit of naming vehicles  )

He's not quite that bright now, but it still scrubs up well enough Smile

Please watch out for my thread to come reference the heater matrix - mine's just popped, and as a temporary measure, I've had to cut it out the system, but will be fitting a new one before too long.

Thanks

Phil

Welcome along, nice looking motor you got there. It is pretty satisfying getting rid of that faded outline from a previous owner isnt it.

Prevention is better than cure mate! Good coats of wax will certainly go a long way to protecting it. As is typical of fleet vehicles, this had only ever seen the sharp end of a jetwash it seemed.

I also used a machine polisher with 3 different compounds on that. Starting off coarse, it scrubbed out the oxidisation, then finer, then down to the finishing compound which gives it that lovely finish.

If i were brave enough to have undertaken that by hand, I'd probably still be there now!
