Thanks so much for the great instructions! Saved me lots of time
One additional piece of information that may be useful is that I found is that these bulbs actually pull out of the sockets and just the glass ampoule needs replacing. Local autoparts store told me this, and sold me Lucas brand replacement ones for 83p each.
Thanks for this advice, did mine today, easy peasy, thank you so much. Two minor caveats. 1) I dropped one of the clips from the surround into an inaccessible niche, perhaps arm yourself with one of those long grabber things, from Poundland, before having a first go? 2) I bought the common 1.2W capless bulblets, they are a bit bright, maybe worth finding the proper 0.4W ones, if this will annoy you?
Where can you get the 0.4 watt bulbs,
the only ones I can find are 509t bulbs 1.2 watt,
is there any problems fitting a higher wattage bulb, like more heat as they are 3 times more watts?

I found the bulbs on auto bulbs direct 509t 12v 0.4 watt,
I spoke to auto electrician, who advised fitting 1.2 watt bulb would be 3 times more consumption, therefore could cause damage to internals.
