Half Matt paint job.

Seen a mention of a paint scheme on a down under berlingo descibed as a matt finish. Started to polish mine but have only got so far !

Good effort. Mine's about 60% (and falling) matte these days. Takes a lot of armwork to restore the red.

(Other side is dent-free...) Bumper and light were off to allow better detailing.

My vans always dent like that when my guests are trying to escape.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

Any ideas what may have caused it? Van came to me that way.

Red is the worst colour for fading to pink. It's because red pigment is most affected by the UV light spectrum from the sun.

You can prolong the life of the newly renovated paint surface by applying two or three coats of good quality wax, but it will only delay the process unfortunately.

How about suntan lotion-(asking almost seriously)

Our local RM sorting office has a couple of shiny new Blippos,and a hired Mk3 Pratner but the remainder of the fleet is Combo's with exactly the same paint effect.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

I've noticed, too, that the UV-exposed areas are "browner".

Not sure if this is yellowing of clear resins in the binder, adding to blue and orange in the paint (on the basis that mixing pure green and orange dyes gives brown) or if it's just a fugitive aspect of the pigment expiring altogether.

Vis à vis protection; having good results with Collinite 476s wax. I'm not an anorak type detailer with all the fancy brushes and whatnot but like to strip off all the plastic trim and stuff every couple of years, clean out the muck and while it's bare, compound and polish the outside paintwork. Gives nice crisp lines:

And, brodfather, only someone with a red car would understand how you're hurting. It's a mission and a half.

I heard the same reasoning given about red pants, but I think that's a load of sh*t. Wink
