How hot does your Berlingo run?
#11
Ok then thanks everyone...
I feel much better now..

I think I was just a little worried because the 306 runs nowhere near that hot..

But all good... thanks heaps..

I did a 150 mile round trip yesterday delivering some stuff that I sold and it took no effort at all..
Bit gutless but plots along nicely and used little diesel... Tongue

no idea what the actual temp is, but my temp gauge consitently follows this pattern

From cold start, it will take around a mile to start showing temp, and this will continually climb to the 1/2 mark. Presumably at this point the thermostat opens and the gauge then drops to just over 1/4 before this then climbs again and then it sits just over 1/3 scale with fluctuations in heavy traffic.

Hi all, interesting reading. I have a 1.9d mark2 Berlingo on a 54 plate I've had no problems with overheating until today...it's a very hot day and stuck in a traffic jam and the needle started to creep up over the half way mark where it normally sits. I left it run and the fan doesn't seem to cut in. So is this a common problem and at what temp should the fan kick in and does anybody know what the most common causes are?? And one last thing, I've had a look and for the fan switch but can't for the life of me find it under the bonnet...any ideas?? Thanks in advance.....

My 2.0 HDI sits at just over 80 in "normal" driving and creeps up to just above 90 when sat in traffic, thought it ran a little hot TBH but this threads assured me its normal Smile

@TobyJug:
It also has to be remembered that the gauges are as cheap as chips
and I doubt that there's very much accuracy. So comparing it with the reading
you got on another car is not any sort of reliable indication. Modern engines,
strangely, run hot anyway compared to engines in the past as the systems
that control them are much more sophisticated.
