I've only gone and bought a Berlingo?
#1
Just dropping in to say Hi for the first time..

Have just bought a 55 plate 1.9D Berlingo and although it seems fairly tidy for its age, I just know the gremlins are probably lurking in the background somewhere.

Seems like a nice small van to me, wish I had bought one sooner.

Will now go and bury myself in the technical forums and check out what problems are likely to bite me in the wallet sooner or later!!

Any pointers on what bulbs are required for the central multi function display?

Mine looks like there is only 1 working on the r/h side - is that a simple fix?

Cheers

Well congratulations on the purchase and welcome to the forum. Lots of very helpful info on these pages. Post some pix of the new Bingo when you get a chance.

Hi Robbo & welcome. If it's done over 100,000 miles, check the valve clearances as they tighten up causing bad starting. It's a camshaft out job so if you're anticipating changing the belt & w/pump,do the valves first.Changing the trans oil with synthetic is also a good idea as it's not normally changed.Enjoy your Berlingo. That looks pretty straight forward and definitely in my comfort zone!

Bit confused about the bulbs though - From what I understand these are a 286 (T5) fitting Yes / No?

They seem to be everywhere on eBay rated at 12V / 1.2W, but I have seen others at 12V / 0.4W

Other owners talk about swapping them out for LED's

Don't want to melt the MFD on my first attempt.!!

Any information is appreciated

Yes you want T5 286 12v 1.2w bulbs, you can change to led bulbs but there is a lot of crap cheap rubbish that doesn't last long so beware.

Yes agreed,be careful, LED bulbs can be a bit of a problem,if they werent originally fitted best stick with the original light bulbs would be my advice. Berlingo's are great vehicles,do exactly what they say on the can ,but oh so dull to drive.Ive had mine for 6 years and its been totally reliable and returns 40 ish to the gallon.[ 1.9 diesel ] It carries full 8 x 4 plasterboards on the roof ,takes wifey shopping, and takes doggy out on sundays, what more can you want !!!!!!!! Mmmmmm
