Interior LED Lights
#1
Got LED strips fitted above rear sliding doors to help with poor visibility in rear-can now find door handles at night !!!.Operated by switch on dash, which works with ignition on or off.

I've got something similar in my MK1, they're wired up to the door switch so come on when the door's open.
(got some nice blue ones wired up to a straight forward on/off switch as well)

Spectrum led strip, waterproof and suitable for exterior also, fits exactly to plastic without cutting.
I got separate switch fitted due to passengers being unable to locate interior door handles in the dark, this allows me to operate lights independently.

Used the Dioder from Ikea, cheap and 4 strips for 40€
Don't buy the color leds or cheaper set.
1 on each sliding door, 3 on back door.
Works very well on 9 volt battery in my rooftent 4 Dioders will
stay 4 hours on 1 Bat
Just perfect

I have now fitted white led strips to the inside of the net holders above the rear doors.
I fiited them to the inside so they are like uplighters, and as I never use the nets it's no problem.Fitting them underneath would have made them visible and given too much glare. But there is plenty of light to see, even on the floor.
I wired them into the rear interior light so they come on when either the rear doors or tailgate is opened as well as when unlocking the car with the remote.

Pics please , if the light given is good I may relocate to protect them. But still keeping separate switch as it suits my needs ie helps passengers to see door handles before the automatic light comes on when getting out and gives them light whenever required, but good idea connecting to rear light for non- taxi use etc. Just relocated them and looking good although need to evaluate if still enough light being given for my needs, although the lights were giving off a lot of glare in the original position they were very good at illuminating the door area.

I'm quite pleased with the result, they give off plenty of diffused light and I can easily see things on the floor in front of the rear seats, which is what I wanted them for................
