Is it me......?
#1
I don't know if it's a general old fart thing, or just me being a grumpy sod, but I find myself being increasingly annoyed by the introduction of "Hi, does anyone know....."

I appreciate we all had to join at some point, but I think that a little common courtesy wouldn't go astray. Also, what is wrong with the Search function? Perhaps their need for assistance is so urgent that they haven't time for a proper introduction or to look for themselves.

Anyway, I've got that off my chest, so drip session over and back to normal ('til the next time !!)

I agree, what irks me is when posters never come back and tell you whether the solutions worked or what did eventually cure their fault. Some people dont appear to realise that the more information posted will increase the knowledge base for the future. So There!

I have been thinking the same recently; the last couple of weeks seems to have been dominated by first posts jumping straight in looking for answers. I guess it is good in some ways as it shows that the forum is becoming the place for all things technical to do with Berlingos. BUT, it does annoy me that a lot of posters can't be bothered to say hello, say thank you, or provide any feedback later. It's simple courtesy in my book.

This forum is the most friendly and helpful car forum I have come across and I would like it to stay that way, but it won't do any harm to tell a few people to use the search function

That is a common irk with long time forum users. Many have a thread entitles something like "New Users - Please Read" that sets up rules for posting including "search first" , "separate Hi from question posts" and "post follow-ups". Might be of benefit here.

Thank you.

I wasn't sure if anyone else felt the same way, or we were all being too polite to say anything (I suppose that makes me the rudest of us then if that's the case).

I agree with Chris, it is by far and away the most friendly forum I've used and I would want it to stay that way. So a polite reminder to folk to introduce themselves is O.K. then?

I agree, this is one of the best forums (fora??) I've ever joined but like many forums it could profit from a "New Users - Please Read" set of posting guidelines.

Don't forget, if everyone used the forum search and found the answer to their question without posting, the forum would be dead!

Unfortunately not everyone in the world is as polite as we are.

I at least think it would be nice for new members not to post hi and jump straight into the asking for help in the same post, they should at least separate the two into the specific areas so welcome threads don't become off topic
