OK, time for an update.
Drove to Northampton on Saturday for a conference at a hotel there.
The car remained in the car park until I drove home again on Sunday late afternoon.
I fuelled up immediately before I left, zeroed the odometer and the final mileage was 240.8 miles.
The best I saw on route was 64.8 mpg and when I got home it was 62.4 mpg. I drove at around 60 most
of the time but with frequent periods at 50 (M1 Motorway roadworks) with the occasional burst to
75 or 80 mph when overtaking traffic briskly. I found that draughting trucks travelling at about 65 mph
eight to ten car lengths back was also beneficial. All in all it was a reasonable drive and at no time did
I feel that I needed to stop and have a stretch so the car's comfort was beyond reproach.
