Advice on buying 1.9
#11
Thanks Tucker. Tell you what, I'm glad I found this forum. I'm going to test drive it again when he's done the bits on it. I've looked everywhere for cars in that price range & this still seems the best bet. I will def take it back to mechanic. The garage that's selling is in trading standards fair play scheme & at least there's 3 months warranty which I wouldn't get privately. The micra could cost me a bit at MOT in March, also the front wing has gone dull which means paint is going to peel off like it has on back so that's a reason for selling on now. What divingscubaboy said about air filter does concern me but I suppose I could pay £5,000 for a car and get as many problems. I'm glad I don't buy cars very often! I suppose that's why I save up & buy cheap, I know too many people with a broken car that they're still paying huge amounts off. Bit miffed that he let me take it on the motorway with a seized up accelerator though.

Well... 1 month later, I'd given up on this car but the garage rang today & have done the repairs. He said they'd been sent the wrong parts. I have asked around & heard that this garage is pretty decent. They've had the car advertised on the internet for ages. Could anyone advise me on what my top offer should be? I'm trading in a 15 year old micra- saving grace is that it works, it's automatic & only has 68k on clock, cons: peeling paint. they still seem to be selling at £7-900 though. Their last offer for berlingo was £1250 plus my car. I don't want to pay more than £1000, bearing in mind the cam belt will need replacing this year. What do you think...

cheers

What's the screen price of the berlingo?

A 15 year old micra as a trade in is probably only worth two to tree hundred quid, tops.

Screen price £1700.

drove it again today & he's put the price up by £50... now wants £1300 for it as he said he had to buy parts from Citroen. i think after hanging on for a month the price should either stay the same or drop but not go up. Car was ok to drive though, now i dont know whether to hang on & get a mk 2 or just go for it as it does seem a good buy.

Well, after a month I should think he would be in a bit more of a hurry to get shut, £1100 Big Grin
