New battery info
#1
I'm in the market for a new battery before the first frost cripples me b'lingo . If I enter my reg into the likes of euro car parts the batteries offered have nothing like the ah or cca ratings advised in other threads on here to be recommended for the 1.9D .
A couple of you have said 70ah and 700cca are the max to aim for , I wonder .... what are the mimimum values which will serve my daily summer and winter drive ?

e.g. two Bosch examples which my reg number generate as suitable are , 56ah and 480cca also 63ah and 610cca the latter having a "LIST" price of £ 121  , both fall well short of others mentioned here !

Sufficient or inadequate ?
cheers nbm

I stuck a Varta E44 Silver Dynamic in mine about a year ago. 77Ah and 780 CCA. Never had a problem in Swiss winters so far. Got it for €101.

I bought one online last year for my 1.9D and found with p&p it was no cheaper than my local garage. IIRC it was about £70 which I thought was excessive!

I always work on getting the biggest AH / CCA numbers I can for the space available in the battery tray but then I generally keep my vehicles for many years. Shopping in advance to find the best deal helps rather than buying because the battery has died ( I see you are doing this anyway ).
Ebay is always worth a look, I recently bought a BIG battery for my Land Rover for £35 new - bargain and more CCA's than you can throw a stick at - list price was £140

The crux being , I ended up with a 64ah / 640cca new battery , fitted with 3 year guarantee (out of hours too , bless him ) for £60 plus the dreaded !

Cool beans
