Thats a painSad The filler on mine will only allow a derv pump to fit it. I think you can get an adaptor that fits in the filler hole that will do the same.

i have done exactly the same on 2 previous renaults that i had but i never realised until i had driven about five miles down the road when they spluttered to a stop, the first time i called rac out they wanted to charge me about £200 to drain tank but i thought sod it and just emptied it via the priming pump into a container then put in about five litres of diesel from a jerry can then primed it and it fired up straight away.

This particular day i thought i was luckiest person alive lol as i only had car a month, anyway two years later i had a renault scenic and did exactly same thing with that, you would have thought i would have learnt by my mistakes so now i triple check i using right pump with the B-Lingo

The local petrol station sells a really annoying thing that fits in the filler cap cover, a friend of mine has one fitted to his Transit. When you open the cover it starts a voice saying " Warning, Diesel" over and over for about 5 seconds. You don't get it wrong I can tell you.
So where does this bit go then ?

Depending on the volume of petrol, you dont need to drain it. If you have put less than half a tank of petrol in, top it up with diesel and it'll be fine.

It's the other way around - diesel into a petrol vehicle - that you must drain it whatever.

i had just over 1/4 tank this to up took m to 3/4 so if i filled up it would have been a 50/50 mix would of done the old girl in. last time i put in £15 before i realised so filled with derv and no probs.

Get yourself a big sticker stating 'Diesel' and stick it on the body just over the filler cap that should sort it. A lot of the car rental firms do this as this is a common problem for them. It might not be the prettiest but it will sort the issue...
