Oil change - would you?
#1
My 1.9D Puglingo is booked for an MOT next week and was last serviced this time last year. It has only done 3,300 miles since - would you bother changing the oil? Peugeot recommend 10,000 miles or two years, so it should be OK.

The van doesn't get used for short journeys and doesn't get driven harshly.

Would you change?

I would do oil every year myself. Oil builds up water over short trips

10k kms or yearly

Me too. Although the OP said they didn't do short trips it can still absorb a bit of water when stood still. Besides it's not very expensive to do an oil change and it is about the best thing you can do for your engine.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Oil change is the cheapest maintenance you can do.

As has been said already but is worth repeating, moisture can get into oil when engines are stood.

3300 miles means short journeys (less than 20 miles) or staning for long periods. Either is not good.

Our 2 get their oil and filter changed every 6 months regardless of mileage.

Mine will have done 8k at its first service.
Ive brought it forward 8 weeks and booked it for next week - this will be at 6K.
Not wanting to give a dv6 any excuses....
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

Definately would change it and the filter, oil is the blood of your car so renewing it is always the best option.

Looks like the majority would do an oil change.

I would always prefer to have a vehicle well-used then serviced as required but it's not an option for the Puglingo.

I just need to get out more. Sad
