Questions about Berlingos
#1
Hi wife is thinking her next car will be potentially a berlingo (car version) I have some queries on them

1. What M59's had dpf's fitted

2. What ones had dmf's

3. Cambelt change intervals on petrol & diesel

4. Do all versions have front passenger seat that folds forward for long loads

5. Are they good vehicles for towing a small trailer tent

6. Any corrosion issues as we would want to keep any purchased vehicle for a minimum of 5 years.

7. For a budget of £2,000 and max miles of 80,000 what age of berlingo are we looking at

8. Any recommendations re good independent for servicing/repairs in Kent

9. In the press Citroën has a bad reputation for reliability does this apply for the berlingo

10. What models have trip computer

Thanks

1&2 dunno what dpf and dmf are
3 ISTR 40k miles for the 1.6 petrol. Varies by engine.
4 For Mk 2, only the van models I think.
5 Seem to have a pretty good rep for towing.
6 Not really AFAIK.
7 Should get a decent Mk 2 so 2002-2008ish.
8 Not my area
9 Not particularly AFAIK - spares are cheapish too.
10 Not 100% sure but think that first came in with Mk3. Some people have modded Mk2s to have it though.

What you should be looking for is a FSH if you're going for late models especially with the Hdi engine.
If youre going for an earlier or high mileage check the rear wheels for excessive inward slope
Check ALL (thats EVERYTHING) the electrics work
After that dont worry too much - of all the issues repeatedly cropping up within the pages of BF most are precautionary based on scare stories
All have some form of computerisation within the centre display
Citroen are no less relaible than any other make-the HDI motor (fitted to lots of other marques is sensitive to neglect rather than unreliable)
Kent?-dunno, Im in sticksville
Price ? Glass or Parkers as a very rough idea.
Corrosion of the bodywork isnt a hiuge issue as there is galvanising at work under the paint.
They are good for towing huge heavy trailers too.
Check the folding seat arrangement when you are looking at an individual vehicle its the vans that will usually have this more often.
Youre more likely to find deisels than petrols-late MK2's had DPF's a good blast once a week keeps them clear.
I havent heard of any flywheel issues on Blingo's and a forum search will revael what mileage members are changing cambelts at.
