Quick shift kit.

Was wondering if anyone on here has had experience of fitting a quick shift kit to a Mark 1 or 2? Would one designed for a Pug 306 fit? It would be nice to shorten the gearshift on my Mk2 hdi.

Why would anyone want to be doing this ??? I think I'd be changing the vehicle instead, just my thoughts.

Never thought of it... If I was gunna do it I'd just take a hacksaw to the gear lever and cut it down to size. Personally don't see the point as lingo's aint made to drag.
If it aint broke don't fix it... if it is broke, who gives a rats ass?

The few I've seen, are a bit on the bodgy side. I'd put my dosh into a tuning box or remap first, then front end.

Quite like the way their chassis handles, not far removed from the 405.

Most quick shift kits I've seen have worked by changing the lever pivot point. Buy a spare lever and modify it to suit you. Don't go too much at once though, I did a Sierra one and you only needed 8mm to make a good difference to the action.
So where does this bit go then ?

Ha ha, I think some of you have got the wrong idea of what I'm thinking of here. The throw of the mk1 and 2 gear change is quite long, longer than the 205's, Zx,s, and 306,s I've had and got with essentially the same gearbox. Having sold lots of berlingos from new it was always my impression that Psa deliberately engineered a long throw action as a consession to the Berlingos commercial intention. My idea would be to fit a modified bellcrank to the gearbox - which are available for 306's and 205's make the throw shorter and positive - there would be no gear lever hacking in my motor! Time to experiment methinks! Thanks for your thoughts everyone!

I think the only reason the throw is longer is that the lever is longer because the seating position is higher. The linkage looks the same principle at the gearbox end as the Saxo my sister had years ago.
So where does this bit go then ?
