My rear axle on my MK2 Berlingo van is shot!
I've been looking at reconditioned ones on the net and I think that this is the way to go!
I just wondered if anybody had ever purchased one of these, and if so, if they could recommend a place/company to buy one from myself?
Also, I believe that the axles come in different weight categories. I wondered if, because the van carries quite a lot of weight, I could buy a 'heavier duty' recon axle, or if I have to replace 'like for like'?
If any members of this fine forum has experience in the (seemingly mammoth) job of removal and refitting of the rear axle, I would be very pleased to hear from you! I want to know of any pit falls etc, I should try to avoid!
Oh and somebody said that when purchasing a recon axle, I should make sure that it has drain holes drilled so water can drain away and doesn't collect and wear the bearings. Do all recon axles come like this, or is that something I should watch out for when deciding where to buy my axle from?????
Anyway guys, I'm sorry to bombard you with questions and I hope you're having better weather than we are in rural Lincolnshire (it's persisted it down all day :censored
Cheers fellas, Lloydy Boy alut:
