Rear windows
#1
Hi Everyone

I want to express a big thank you for every one who make this site works. I live in Egypt and am about to purchase a new berlingo multispace, I will not use it as a work van,so I cant understand the rear windows. why its not a normal window ?
I want to know from the owners how they live with it. also is there any chance to make it a normal window ?
Many thanks to everyone, wishing you all the best.

Hello and welcome. I am a bit confused about what you are asking. What are normal windows and not normal windows?? Thanks

I suspect he means the rear windows do not roll down like on 99% of most cars?

They are side-hinged because they cannot be rolled down - I suspect it is something to do with saving money. Berlingos are pretty 'cheap' cars for what you get and this is a way for Citroen to save a bit of dosh. Mind you, I am a bit surprised this hasn't been sorted for the mk3 versions which seem to have been such a comprehensive review of the model (Mk1s and 2s being based on vans it is understandable they saved money where they could, but AFAIK the 3 is based on the C4?)

More likely surely it's to prevent injury should a rear (sliding) door be opened while a head/arm/other appendage is poking through the window...

Excellent point. Hadn't thought of that but a guillotine action could ruin your day.

Ah yes, never thought of that one! Excellent! *

And it gives them a bit of space to play with inside (as if the Berlingo needed anymore ;-) )

* although now runs away to try and find another rear-sliding door car which has 'normal' windows just in case....!

Hey guys, many thanks for your replys and sorry for being away for some days.
Sure I meant the outward openning windows.I felt it may narrow the freedom of the rear passengers.
I think that shedepet got a point.it is a safety matter. but couldnt citroen find a better way ?
We also have a bigger mpv here called jumpy , they manged to fit a small sliding window inside the window frame. thank you all .wishing you all the best.
