The service indicator has popped up and I've got about 300 miles according to the display before I have to service the car. What puzzles me though, is that I thought the service interval was 10k but the car has only done 7 or 8k since the last service.
Now I realise that the service indicator countdown is dependant on driving style so what am I doing wrong? I drive 400 miles per week, mainly motorway sat at 70mph. Some stop start each end of course and a bit of weekend shopping and so on. I try to drive as econmically as possible.

Faulty indicator? Is it on time rather than mileage? Just a couple of thoughts.(I don't get them very often).

My 1.9D 2005 had a service indicator reset needed and once reset it started counting down from 7000 miles.
Hope this helps.

Mine starts counting down from 10k. If it is based on time then it's about 4 months (Eurocarparts order was despatched to me on 22nd July). In 4 months I wouldn't expect to cover much more than 7000 miles maybe 8000 as there was a holiday involved.

Doesn't matter whether the vehicle has been clocked (I'm sure it hasn't unless all the MOTs are fake), 10k miles should be the same whether it's on the odometer or the service indicator. I suppose it could be working in km rather than miles but surely you can't set them differently can you?

So you're saying that someone could set the service indicator to KM and the odometer to miles? That's bizarre. It would explain it though. 10km = 6250 miles.

Ok that molishes sense, thanks. And mine s obviously set up for km although the rest of the stuff is in miles.
But now the question is why is mine giving me the mileage for SEVERE usage? I troll down the motorway at 70mph I don't labour the engine or rev the guts out of it. I drive reasonably carefully and get 44 mpg on average if not more. Ok so I do 400 miles a week (best part of 20k per annum) if I'm not on the motorbike but most of that is sat at a steady 70. Is that severe?
