Sliding door catching
#1
Hi all, we have a problem with the rear drivers slide sliding door. There is a cach on the drivers side but not on the other side. Sometimes the catch sticks, not letting you open the door without some brute force. Does anyone know why its on one side but not the other? Also, do you know how to rectify the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Cath

There should be a hook on both doors, sounds like somebody has removed it. As for keeping them working you need to clean them well and use oil instead of grease so they operate neatly. Oiling up the sliding channels is also a must if you want the door to carry nice momentum.

I had this problem found that the hooks realise a lot better if you file them more rounded at the ends and oil them.

Could have been caused by a rear passenger at some point forcing the door against the catch, the interior button can be very hard to press in to release the hook in order to close the door, which is what happened to mine, the hook could be slightly misaligned.
As I recall, the drivers door also has a safety mechanism which prevents the door being opened if the fuel cap is removed. Worth checking to see if this is sticking.
