Speculative investment gone wrong !!!!!!!!
#1
Just knew I shouldn't have bought it the moment my pocket money changed hands with the nice man at the car boot sale......

Saw a nice looking JVC CD/Radio still in its original box and with all fittings present so a tenner changed hands and it was mine.

Thought I would have an attempt at fitting the unit yesterday so out came the old manufacturers O/E Cassette/Radio and that's where the fun started.

On sliding the old unit out I noticed that non of the Lego-brick type connectors matched the ones on my 'boot-sale bargain which would mean extra expense in buying a mating patch-up harness onto what is an untried/untested unit and also some invasive surgery/skullduggery has previously been done to the wiring to the existing radio loom as the connectors and shitty insulation tape will testify.

Not wishing to further damage anything or render things inoperable, I took the coward's way out. Original radio still working while out of slot so slid it back and let's leave it at that until it fails completely.....

Looks like my bargain JVC KD-S70R unit will now be going on e-bay....Confusedillyme:Confusedillyme:Confusedillyme::brickwall::brickwall:

I think you just need an ISO converter to wire it straight in.

Something like this:

converter

ps there are cheaper ones than that as some are half that price...

Cant see the pics properly, but the picture of the back of the unit looks like iso connections so can you not unplug the lead currently in there and put the iso from the car straight in?

1. The wiring to the existing radio looked different to the wiring and pin positions on the "new" unit
2. The cowboy of a previous owner or his agents have messed about with the wiring to the radio behind the dash hence codged up connections and insulting tape.
3. From previous experience, I don't like to follow on after someone has done a ballsed-up job, the old unit is still working so if it ain't broke yet then don't fix it..

Will further investigate if and when the existing unit goes kaput...

Andy, as northants_guy says the back of the cd player are iso connections so will fit straight to wiring in your car.
if your current stereo is working fine it probably is all wired up correctly and will just simply plug in but as your suspect to the previous owners bodge job then it is your call also i see you have commented on another thread about a metal connector in the middle do you mean on the new stereo or in your vehicles wiring.
