Squealing, Clutch Bearing?
#1
2009 1.6HDI 50,000 miles

Bad squeal especially on idle but goes away sometimes, seems to be coming from gearbox area, pressing clutch down or releasing clutch switches the note (think of Close Encounters Of The 3rd Kind but faster and harsher sound).

I'm guessing its clutch release bearing but it doesn't change note with revs, could it be input shaft bearing or something else?

If it is the clutch release bearing is death imminent or have I got some time before the inevitable.

To answer myself, its almost definitely the clutch release bearing, will try and remember to take a photograph.
