[Steering & Suspension] Rear Suspention up grades?
#1
Having followed another Mk3  and witnessing the axel tramp on a rough bit of  that a lot complain about i was wonder if any one had fitted some better shock and or coil springs?

I did appear that the shocks could not cope  one the surface affected both wheels, with the live beam axel transmitting the issue between them.
i found some coil springs from MAD which the nice man on the phone claimed have a much better progression to cope with heavy loads ( I carry a heavy load of tools around in the Multi space )  After seeing the axel tramp I sure a adjustable set of gas dampers would be of benifit and probably help with the rear tyre issue i have read about.

What do the caravan puller on here do ? spring helpers   or up the coil spring rates? .
I also noticed the 2.3 bar pressure did not give a flat foot print of the tyres and 3 bar gave much better contact  and hopefully wear rates.

Comments ?       ................Flame retardant suit on  ! Big Grin

Cheers

I keep tyre pressures at the higher end of that recommended and find it better. I also agree that the rear damping is quite poor, locally there are a couple of mini rounabouts that I have to take the 3rd exit and the back end bounces all around them. However, I also realise that it is a utility type vehicle not a sports car so it doesn't bother me too much.

I'm sure that gas dampers would be a benefit but I don't want to spend the time or money to find out how much better.
