Citreon Berlingo Cambelt issues
#1
A week ago my car broke down. I've been told by the garage tht the cambelt has shredded beyond use and im trying to see what has caused this.

Have been told that this has been caused by a bent bolt that is connected to the tensioner, does this make sense?

and if so does any 1 know could have caused the bolt to bend?

Thanks for any advice that can be given

Which engine?

Our 1.9D (DW3) had a similar issue. Could hear a 'tick, tick'. Thought at first it was an FO on tyre thing but then twigged it was tracking engine not road speed. Faulty tensioner was trying to force belt off and it was gradually fraying as it rubbed against the outer face of the crankshaft drive sprocket. New belt, tensioner and sprocket. Not cheap but much less that the wrecked motor that would have followed.
